Founder & Publisher of She Buys Travel
Twenty years building a travel publication for women who plan the trips, book the trips and do the packing — and a familiar voice on national morning television when the subject turns to travel.
Women make the travel decisions in most households. Kim built a publication that talks to them like it knows that. Why She Buys Travel exists
Kim Orlando was born in Chicago and grew up in Campbellsville, Kentucky, a small town where trips were planned carefully and remembered for years. That instinct — travel as something worth getting right — became a career.
In 2006 she launched TravelingMom.com, a site written by and for the person actually organizing the family vacation. It grew into a national network of contributing writers and, in April 2023, was renamed She Buys Travel to reflect a wider mission: serving every woman who travels, whether or not there's a car seat involved.
Along the way Kim became the person producers call when they need someone who can explain a travel story in plain language. She has appeared on Good Morning America, the Today Show, NewsNation and Good Day LA on FOX 11, and her reporting has run in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Good Housekeeping, The Washington Post, USA Today and the Miami Herald.
She continues to lead She Buys Travel as its founder, publisher and CEO. Read about the publication.
Kim starts a family-travel site with a simple premise: the parent doing the planning deserves better information than a brochure.
On April 24, TravelingMom becomes She Buys Travel, broadening its audience to all women who travel. The publication is operated by SHEBUYSTRAVEL LLC. More about She Buys Travel.
As publisher and CEO, Kim leads editorial direction and partnerships, and remains a regular on-air travel expert for national and regional broadcasters.
Kim is available for broadcast segments, expert commentary and interviews on family travel, women travelers and the travel industry.
